Wymondham College has a strong Safeguarding ethos and we recognise that we play an essential role in protecting children from harm.

We safeguard our students by:

• creating safe environments for children and young people through robust safeguarding practices

• ensuring that adults who work in the school, including volunteers, don't pose a risk to children

• making sure staff are trained, know how to respond to concerns and keep up-to-date with policy and practice

• teaching children and young people about staying safe

• maintaining an environment where children feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have a worry or problem

The Medical Centre

Wymondham College Medical Centre is a dedicated ten-bed, purpose-built medical facility located within the staff residential area of the College campus. The Medical Centre provides onsite  nursing cover 5days a week 07.45- 20.45 Saturdays 08.00-17.00 and Sundays on call service  during term time by a highly professional and dedicated health care team of  qualified nurses supported by matron cover overnight and welcoming medical centre assistants during the day.

The aim of the Medical Centre is to provide a clinically effective outstanding service of nursing care to students and first aid to all members of the school community. Day pupils, staff and visitors can expect emergency care.

Students boarding at Wymondham College are registered at the local Wymondham Medical Partnership, Postmill Close. College policy is for all boarding students to have a new patient check with a member of the nursing staff during the first term to check and monitor their health and well-being whilst at school.
Doctors and Nurse Practitioners from Wymondham Medical Partnership  visit the Medical Centre twice a week. Appointments for this service are readily available after having an initial consultation with one of the College nursing team.

• Liaise with external services and accompany students to emergency medical appointments if necessary
