New Hall
I am proud to have been involved in boarding since I started working at Wymondham College. I joined as a tutor in Cavell Hall but quickly moved into the Assistant Head of House position in Fry Hall. I held this position for 10 years and I always enjoyed leading the House in the evenings.
My leadership style is one of empathy and compassion. Whilst I encourage our students to be punctual and adhere to the House rules and regulations, I understand that sometimes emotions run high in young people. It could be that they are feeling tired, stressed, upset, or feeling a sense of injustice, and I would always try to be patient with students and allow them to voice their opinions.
I love the friendly competitiveness between our Houses! I’m not concerned with winning everything, but I am keen that the ethos of our students is very much one of, ‘we want to take part, and we want to do well for our House.’
I recognise the honour, that parents and carers have trusted myself and my team with the care of their children. Our aim is to create a safe and secure environment where students are given the opportunities to thrive and be happy. We value the development of a young person as holistic, through our Wymondham Life and Diploma programmes, alongside academic progress and developing lifelong friendships.
We aim to prepare our students for the next stage of their lives. We hope they will leave the College feeling proud of their achievements, have a passion for the things they take part in, and have the positive mindset to face any challenges on their next venture.
