Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium and Service Pupil Premium at Wymondham College

At Wymondham College, we are committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of background, is supported to achieve their very best academically, socially and personally.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support pupils who may face disadvantage, including those who are eligible for Free School Meals, have been eligible in the past, are looked after by the local authority, or are from families in the Armed Forces through the Service Pupil Premium.
We use this funding carefully and strategically to remove barriers to learning and to ensure all pupils have access to high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and strong pastoral care.

Our approach is built around the TALENT framework, which focuses on:

  • Teaching: High-quality, adaptive teaching in every classroom.
  • Attendance: Supporting pupils and families to improve attendance and engagement.
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Targeted interventions to close gaps and build confidence.
  • Enrichment: Access to trips, clubs, cultural experiences and wider opportunities.
  • Next Steps: High-quality careers guidance and transition support.
  • Transparency: Clear use of funding and measurable impact.

Pupil Premium funding is used to support a wide range of provision, including academic tutoring, literacy and numeracy interventions, wellbeing and mental health support, attendance initiatives, enrichment opportunities and access to resources that pupils may not otherwise be able to afford.
The Service Pupil Premium specifically supports students from Armed Forces families. This funding helps us provide pastoral support, wellbeing resources, staff training and targeted academic support to ensure service pupils feel included, supported and able to thrive within our school community.
We regularly evaluate the impact of our Pupil Premium and Service Pupil Premium spending using attendance data, assessment outcomes, behaviour information and pupil voice. This allows us to ensure funding is used effectively and that support is continually refined to meet pupils’ needs.

If you believe your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium or Free School Meals, or if you would like more information about how this support works at Wymondham College, please do not hesitate to contact the school via College Office. All enquiries are treated sensitively and confidentially.

Wymondham College is committed to ensuring that every pupil, regardless of background, is supported to achieve their full potential.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement 2024–2027 outlines how funding is used to remove barriers to learning, improve attendance, strengthen literacy and numeracy, and support wellbeing and progression for disadvantaged pupils.

This work is underpinned by our TALENT framework, which focuses on Teaching, Attendance, Literacy and Numeracy, Enrichment, Next Steps, and Transparency. Together, these strategies ensure high quality teaching, targeted support, and clear accountability, enabling all disadvantaged pupils to thrive academically and personally.

If you have any questions about Pupil Premium, eligibility, or would like to discuss the support available for your child, please contact Farrah Daniels, Assistant Principal, via the College Office at collegeoffice@wymondhamcollege.org.
